Resilient Shield is dedicated to improving data-driven public health decision-making. To do this, we work with all stakeholders to make sure we use the best data and methods to solve the right problems at the right time.
Resilient Shield is creating a multidisciplinary service model to improve public health decision making, addressing critical gaps in how we prepare for and respond to disease outbreaks.
Leveraging work responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, and extensive partnerships, Resilient Shield integrates “always on” technologies; social listening, computing, and outbreak weather reports, with an adaptive framework for outbreak intelligence in partnership. In partnership with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, the team’s coalition of experts can test iterative and agile processes and advanced tools for simulation, modeling, and outbreak analytics to inform policymaking and the public, while innovating and up-skilling our workforce across the county.
In addition to public health officials with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, the Resilient Shield coalition includes experts from diverse fields, such as infectious diseases, statistics, modeling, biology, epidemiology, ethics, social and behavioral sciences, policy, public health, design and informatics–drawing from institutions across the United States–including UC San Diego, UCLA, UCSF, UC Riverside, Los Alamos National Laboratory, the University of Washington, MIT, Tulane University, and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services. Together, with the public, we are ResilientShield.
Resilient Shield is taking a service-oriented perspective to integrated public health intelligence. This includes:
